Eligibility Criteria- CDSE
Nationality : A candidate must either be :
a Citizen of India, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently setting in India, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. Certificate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination provisionally subject to the necessary certificate being given to him by the Govt. before declaration of result by UPSC.

Educational Qualifications:
For I.M.A.(Indian Military Academy) and O.T.A.( Officers Training Academy) – Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
For Naval Academy – B.Sc. (with Physics and Mathematics) or Bachelor of Engineering.
For Air Force Academy- Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10 +2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering. Graduates with first choice as Army/Navy/Air Force are to submit proof of graduation provisional certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB Interview at the SSB.
Candidates who are studying in the final year Degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply but they will be required to submit proof of passing the degree examination.
Physical Standards : Candidates must be physically fit according to physicals standards for admission to Combined Defence Courses Examination as per guidelines.

Plan of the Examination: The examination comprises (i) a written examination and (ii) intelligence, obstacles and group tests of the candidates who qualify in the written examination.

Notes
A candidate should have robust physique and good mental health.
Chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cm expansion.
Should have normal hearing with each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes. He should be able to read 6/6 in distant vision chart with each eye. Colour vision should be CP.
III ( able to recognize white, signal red and signal green colours correctly as shown by Martin’s Lantern at 1.5 mtrs).
Should have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum 14 dental points.
Should not have disease like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocle or piles.
Soldier (GD) for Infantry will have 6/6 eye sight.
HIV Screening during recruitment stage is being considered keeping in mind the angles of human rights & legal aspects.
